Faculty Senate

The Faculty Senate is the governing body for faculty. It shall develop and recommend policies concerning overall degree requirements, including liberal education requirements and policies concerning all curricular programs, which have substantial impact on more than one collegiate unit. Faculty Senate shall have responsibility for addressing recommendations on matters relating, but not limited to curricula, research scholarship and creative activities, liberal education, undergraduate and graduate courses, all academic programs and course assessments, academic standards of admission of students, and policies to promote a diverse university body. The Senate is responsible for communicating information from faculty to the UCC and to members of the administration and also for disseminating information from the UCC and administration to the Faculty Assembly. The council Senate will facilitate discussion of issues raised by faculty, various committees, or members of the administration and provide consultation and advice to administration and the appropriate committees (except on terms and conditions of work governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement). Staff Senate

The Staff Senate is the governing body for staff. The council senate communicates information from staff to the UCC and to members of the administration and also disseminates information from the UCC and administration to the Staff Assembly. The senate facilitates discussion of issues raised by staff, various committees, or members of the administration and provides consultation, advice, and recommendations to members of the administration and the appropriate committees (except on terms and conditions of work governed by Collective Bargaining Agreements or university system work rules). UMD Student Association Executive Board

The UMD Student Association (UMDSA) is the official voice of the student body. It has the responsibility to advocate student concerns, needs, desires and opinions across campus through the media, administration, and committees involved in policymaking. The UMD Student Association will advocate for the improvement of student life conditions; actively promote the goals of the University; organize and coordinate programs of co-curricular nature; promote better coordination of the rights and responsibilities of students to and between colleges, schools, departments, administrations, and the community; effectively reflect student opinion on all matters affecting students in their role as students; and cooperate effectively with faculty, administrators, and community in areas common to all as a university community. UMD Student Association Executive Board minutes and meeting materials.
